VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children

ALL volunteers of St. Margaret Parish and School must attend a VIRTUS workshop,  the Child Abuse Prevention Program: Protecting God’s Children.  This is a one-time requirement which helps volunteers to recognize child abuse, offers protective practices,  and instructs on reporting incidents of abuse.  If you are currently a volunteer who has not yet taken this workshop, you must attend one as soon as possible.

Here are upcoming VIRTUS Workshops being offered at St. Margaret Parish:

Monday, March 13, 2017 – 6:30 to 8:00 pm

Saturday, April 4, 2017 – 1:00 to 2:30 pm

VIRTUS Sessions take place at St. Margaret Church in Sacred Heart Hall (lower church), 374 Stevens Street, Lowell, MA.

You may attend a VIRTUS training session at any parish where it is being offered.

To view the available  VIRTUS Training Dates  being offered in other parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston, click here to be brought to the VIRTUS Online site. From the “Select your organization” drop down menu, select “Boston MA (Archdiocese)”. The next screen will present  the option to register for one of a number of    VIRTUS training sessions scheduled in the Archdiocese of Boston.

Upon completing a VIRTUS Training Session, you will be given a  certificate. Please mail or bring a copy of the certificate to the rectory, or call the parish office at 978-454-5143 to inform Debbie  McAndrews of the date, time, and location of the session you attended.

Massachusetts State law requires that any person 17 years of age and older, who serves as a volunteer in a parish or school, must complete a CORI  form (Criminal Offense Record Information) every year. There are no exceptions to this requirement! In addition to the annual CORI form process, the Archdiocese of Boston is requesting that volunteers sign an agreement to read the Archdiocesan Code of Ministerial Conduct  and to uphold the Christian values outlined in this document. This is a “one-time only” signing. Click  here  to  view and print a copy of the Archdiocesan Code of Ministerial Conduct.
