Our
Father....
Hail Mary....
Glory Be to the Father....
This
fall of Jesus was an agony to me. Not only had he fallen on the
rocky ground again, but now he was almost at the top of the hill
of crucifixion. The soldiers screamed at him and abused him, almost
dragging him the last few steps. My heart pounded as I imagined
what they would do to him next. Simon helped him up and said “Almost
there…” Almost there! Almost to the place of execution!
God help me to endure it to the end, with him!
Even if you can’t forget your sins, even if you fall into them again, even
if you should be scandalized by the sins of consecrated people, you must raise
yourself up and continue. By his third fall, my gentle Jesus has redeemed all.
He has made all things new. Do not give the enemy this battle—he only wants
you to lay in the mud, the weight of evil crushing you to death. Do not give
in. Get back up, advance at any cost. God is glorifying himself through you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, through your humiliation
beneath the Cross you revealed to the world the price of its redemption.
Grant to the men and women of our time the light of faith, so that,
as we recognize in you the Suffering Servant of God, we may have
the courage to follow the same path which, by way of the Cross and
self-emptying, leads to life without end. To you, O Jesus, our support
when we are weak, be honour and glory for ever.
