Our
Father....
Hail Mary....
Glory Be to the Father....

I
had managed to break through the crowd and was walking side
by side with my son. I called to him through the shouting voices.
Our eyes met, mine full of tears of anguish, his full of pain
and confusion. I felt helpless; then his eyes said to me, "Behold,
I make all things new." As he stumbled on, I saw the road
to Calvary as a royal road, newly-bright with his blood, shining
with God’s grace.
Give your hearts to my Son, run to meet him on the road, hold his all-beautiful
face in your hands and look into the eyes of the crucified. You have met him
many times, but you did not know it, because your spirit was full of plans,
anxieties, and your own will. How sad for my Son to seek with so great a thirst
one look from one who remains distracted, dreaming, or even laughing with foolishness
while he breaks his heart and his body on the way of the cross.
Prayer: O Mary, you walked the way of the Cross
with your Son, your mother’s heart torn by grief, but mindful
always of your fiat and fully confident that He to whom nothing
is impossible would be able to fulfill his promises. Implore
for us and for the generations yet to come the grace of surrender
to God’s love. Help us, in the face of suffering, rejection,
and trial, however prolonged and severe, never to doubt him.
To Jesus, your Son, honour and glory for ever and ever. |
